Hicks Haul Fitness Run: Extended 10K Distance
OC Parks - Irvine Ranch Open Space
Join us for a road run in the Irvine Ranch Open Space. We’ll run on the paved Hicks Haul Road, up to a 10k (6.5 miles) distance. We’ll begin with some warm-up exercises before we set off on our run. The route is up and over Loma Ridge, providing both uphill and downhill training on both the out and the back portions. The pace is up to you, but you must finish and be back to the staging area by our designated end time. Besides not having to share the road with vehicles, we’ll enjoy being surrounded by the amazing natural resources of the Landmarks and far-reaching views of the Santa Ana mountains to the north on our way out and then the pacific coastline on our return leg of the run. Ages 12 and up; minors must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

Trail Stewardship
OC Parks - Aliso & Wood Canyons Park
Location: Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park

If you use the wilderness park for hiking, biking, photography or just relaxing, Trail Stewardship will be right up your alley!  Get up close and personal with the trail you use; you’ll see the trails in a whole new way. No experience necessary.  This is FUN hard work.  Whatever your skill level is, there is a job to do:  clearing drains of brush; building “gargoyles” to better define the trail; moving dirt or building an in-slope turn. We will be using tools such as loppers, picks, shovels, and McLeods to restore features that protect the trail and/or build new features to improve trail sustainability.  Remember:  let’s keep users ON the trail and water OFF the trail to prevent fragmentation of our precious wilderness.  Snacks will be provided. Expect to hike up to 4 miles during our morning.

  • Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun protections.
  • Bring plenty of water.
  • The location will be determined closer to the date.

San Juan Hot Springs Hike
OC Parks - Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park
 Location: Caspers Wilderness Park

Join us for a family-friendly walk through history at Caspers Wilderness Park and learn how the hot springs have been valued by different cultures over time. Once we reach the historic pools, there will be a discussion about hot springs science and geology.

Caspers Wilderness Park is a protected wilderness preserve and the hot springs are a storied part of the park's history. During the hike, attendees can keep an eye out for native plant and animal life while the ranger shares details about the hot springs and surrounding lands.

This is an easy, one-mile roundtrip hike. No dogs or strollers. Hikes are made possible through a partnership with Caspers Park Foundation.

Registration is required for each hike. Event is free, parking $5 per vehicle
