Mona's Story

My name is Karen, and I am writing to thank you, and tell you that Animal A1206812, Mona, has found her forever family with me here in Connecticut.
I am a teacher in Newtown, CT. Last year our town suffered one of the worst tragedies imaginable. The first day back at school, we all wondered how we would make it through the day, and through the rest of the school year. Someone who was very brilliant arranged to have comfort dogs roaming our hallways that morning, and every day for the rest of the school year. I never fully appreciated the impact that an animal could have on a grieving human, but those dogs saved us, no question about it.
One Friday around that time I became so despondent that I got into bed and stayed there for an entire weekend. On Sunday evening I sat up in bed, opened my laptop, and got onto Petfinders.
According to her paperwork, Mona, the little girl who rescued me, started out as a stray in your clinic in 2012. You saw her potential and fixed her up. From there she somehow, miraculously, ended up with another angel, Janet at Second Chance Rescue in Bethel, Connecticut. Finally she made it home, to me, in fact beside me on the couch as I write this.
I want to thank you for all that you did to save Mona - all of the shots and procedures, all of the snuggles, all of the love. You may not have known it then, but with all of your kindness you weren't just rescuing Mona, you were rescuing me too.
Thanks for being our angels,
Karen and Mona
