BREA OLINDA HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY EVENT PARK EXPECTED TO FILL TO CAPACITY

On Saturday, September 30, 2017, Brea Olinda High School's annual Cross Country Invitational will be held in the park. We are expecting approximately 2000 people for this event.

The public should be aware that parking is expected to fill to capacity and will result in the park's closure to vehicular traffic.

Upstream of the Carbon Canyon Dam  lies 124-acre Carbon Canyon Regional Park. Sixty acres are developed, offering large, grassy areas for picnicking, sports facilities that include backstops and lighted tennis courts, and a 4-acre lake with two piers for fishing. The undeveloped area features a trail that leads to Orange County's only grove of redwoods; 3 acres of majestic Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).

Park Hours: Fall - Winter Hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST

Office Hours: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday

Parking fees: $3 per vehicle entry Monday - Friday; $5 Saturday - Sunday; Higher for some holidays and events (Fee Information)

Programs

Scenic view of Carbon Canyon Park.Naturalist-guided tours and group talks are offered throughout the year by appointment through the park office. A 1.1 mile long nature trail to the park's beautiful Redwood Grove offers a special feature for adventuresome hikers, bird watchers and other amateur naturalists. A trail guide is available at the park office for self-guided nature walks.

More specific dates are not given to avoid focusing excess fishing activity immediately after a plant.

OC Parks Mobile App Now Available

The OC Parks mobile application is now available to download. The new app makes it easy to explore all that the County regional and wilderness parks have to offer.

Using the OC Parks app for iOS or Android, you can easily get outside and find a park near you with the most detailed, accurate maps of all regional, wilderness, beach and historic parks and regional trails operated by the County of Orange. The app also offers detailed park descriptions and photos.

The mobile app lets users easily locate the closest playgrounds, parking and restrooms in each park. Search recent OC Parks news, events and alerts regarding park access, weather, trail conditions and more.

Google Trekkers Hit the Trails in OC Parks

News ImageStarting in August, hikers will be collecting imagery of Orange County trails using the Google Street View Trekker, a wearable backpack with a camera system on top. The Trekker automatically gathers images as it goes. Later the imagery will be stitched together to create the 360-degree panoramas you see today in Google Maps.
