Local Proclamation with Request for State Proclamation
At 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 9,2017, the County of Orange proclaimed a local emergency in response to theCanyon Fire 2. Assistant Chief Michael Schroeder, the Director of EmergencyServices, requested Chairwoman Michelle Steel, Second District Supervisor, toissue an emergency proclamation on behalf of the Orange County Board ofSupervisors.
This emergencyproclamation allows the County to fully deploy all available resources,actions, and measures deemed necessary to ensure the safety and welfare ofOrange County residents and property. Assistance from other local agencies inthe Southern California area is supplementing local resources. In addition, theCounty requested that Governor Jerry Brown proclaim a State of Emergency.
The EmergencyOperations Center (EOC) asked that all persons requesting additionalinformation regarding this emergency contact the fire information line at714-765-4333. Unless there is a life-threatening emergency, do not call 911.
