Smoke From Canyon Fire 2 Generating Unhealthful Air Quality Conditions

Smoke from the Canyon Fire 2 is significant and is creating unhealthful air quality.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued a Smoke Advisory effective through Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017. Areas of direct smoke impacts and unhealthy air quality include large portions of north and central Orange County and Saddleback Valley.

Orange County Health Care Agency Public Health Officer Dr. Eric Handler advises all County residents to:

  • Switch car air intake to "recirculate."
  • Avoid vigorous exertion
  • People should remain indoors, especially those with respiratory or heart disease, older adults, and children.
  • Keep windows and doors closed and run your air conditioner if you have one. Keep the fresh air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent bringing additional smoke inside.
