The Orange County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday finalized the County's strategy to end veteran homelessness by December 2020, directing County staff to contract with a housing navigator to assist veterans in their search for housing.

"Nature Takes Flight" Photography on Display at John Wayne Airport

Bringing to life everyday images that may otherwise go unseen, the simplicity of nature, animals, and landscapes, as captured by photographer Devin Grady, become intricate imagery through the use of his artistic technique. Grady's artwork "Nature Takes Flight," is on display in the John Wayne Airport Community Focus Space from June 18 – July 18, 2019.

Orange County Launches Web-Based App “Mello” that Lists all Property Taxes/Fees on Secured Property Tax Bills

Chairwoman Lisa Bartlett, Treasurer Shari Freidenrich, and the Orange County Information Technology Application Development team have collaborated to create Mello, a responsive web based application designed to give Orange County homeowners easy access to their property tax information with full breakdowns of where those taxes and fees are going.

Board of Supervisors Approves Additional Crisis Stabilization Unit

The Board of Supervisors voted March 26 to approve $13 million toward the creation of an additional Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) for those persons in Orange County experiencing a mental health emergency.

Board of Supervisors Approves Countywide Suicide Prevention Initiative

The Orange County Board of Supervisors announced that it has committed $600,000 of Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) monies for the creation of a countywide suicide prevention program. This funding will be given to MindOC, the fiscal entity of Be Well Orange County, an initiative bringing together public, private, academic and faith-based organizations, as well as others, to create a coordinated system of mental healthcare and support for all Orange County residents.

FDIC'S MONEY SMART Alliance Program Adds the County of Orange as Newest Member

On January 22, 2019, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) approved the County of Orange's application to join the FDIC Money Smart Alliance Program, which is designed to promote financial education nationwide.

Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, Fifth District, has been chosen unanimously by her colleagues to serve as Chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors for 2019. Supervisor Steel, Second District, will serve as the Board's Vice Chair.

Volunteers Needed to Help Count Individuals Experiencing Homelessness in Orange County

The County of Orange is seeking around 1,000 volunteers to sign up to help with the 2019 Point In Time count, taking place Wednesday, January 23, and Thursday, January 24.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) invited employees and citizens of Orange County to show their support in ending childhood abuse and neglect by wearing blue today, April 9, 2019, for National Child Abuse Prevention Month. In addition, residents are encouraged to take photos of themselves, their friends, coworkers and loved ones while wearing blue and tagging photos using the hashtag #GoBlueForOCKids on social media.

Bear Awareness Day

Come learn more about bears and have fun at the OC Zoo! Activities include bear crafts for kids, special zookeepers chats about bears, and a learning station where you can find out more about bear conservation and research, how to "bear proof" camping sites, and what to do if you see a bear.

OC Parks Presents The Annual Sunset Cinema Film Series For 2019

The County of Orange and OC Parks are pleased to present the annual Sunset Cinema film series, featuring 14 free, family-friendly movies at Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Craig Regional Park, Yorba Regional Park, Mason Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park, Laguna Niguel Regional Park and Bluff Park at Salt Creek Beach. Sunset Cinema brings recent and classic films to the big screen at your favorite regional parks every Friday evening throughout the summer, starting on June 14 and running through Sept. 13.

County of Orange Prevails in Legal Challenge of Needle Exchange Program

Today the County of Orange has prevailed in its lawsuit against the Orange County Needle Exchange Program (OCNEP) and is now entitled to Judgment against the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on the County's claim under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
