The OC Dana Point Harbor Department completed routine maintenance dredging and beach nourishment in February 2009. During the six-month project, several feet of sand was removed from the top of Baby Beach and replaced by 6,000 cubic yards of newly dredged sand from the build-up along the breakwater. Additionally, 48,000 cubic yards of sand from the build-up along the breakwater was piped to Capo Beach through a two-mile pipeline as part of the Beach Nourishment Program. The dredged sand improved the appearance and quality of sand on both of these beaches. Planning has already begun for the next Maintenance Dredge Project, scheduled for 2013-2014.
The Department hosted an information meeting on September 10, 2008 to familiarize the harbor community with the project. To view the PowerPoint presentation, click here.
