How do I qualify for FREE breast and cervical services?

Every Woman Counts (EWC) provides free breast and cervical services for those who meet the following

  • Live in California
  • Meet the age requirements:
    21 and older for cervical services
    40 and older for routine breast services
    Any age or gender for breast cancer testing with symptoms of breast cancer.
  • Have no or limited health insurance
  • Have health insurance with a co-payment or deductible you cannot afford
  • Have low household income. Visit the MediCal website for income eligibility guidelines.

Does the EWC cover a surgical consultation?

Yes, if it is medically necessary.

Does the EWC pay for an ultrasound / biopsy?

Yes, if it is medically necessary.

I have emergency Medi-Cal only or other health insurance that does NOT cover breast and cervical cancer screening. Do I qualify for EWC services?

Yes, you may qualify for EWC services.

What if I get a bill in the mail?

Once you qualify for EWC services, then services are FREE. If you receive a bill, call (714) 834-4429. Please have a copy of your bill and your EWC identification card ready.

What do I do if I am diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer, or have a cervical screening that is not normal and needs treatment?

Your EWC doctor may enroll you into the California Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP) to provide treatment services.  For more information, please visit the BCCTP website or call 1 (800) 824-0088.
